Maggie's First Play Date

Previous Post  |  Next Post

Okay, so she's still a bit too young to play. Maybe it was more like Mommy's first play date. My friend Kathy, whose son Benjamin made his appearance only two days before Maggie, had all of us Washington baby mamas over for lunch yesterday. Shelley's son, Ian is five months old (and 21 lbs., come to find out!) Amy's daughter, Kinsley is eight months old and into everything. She was definitely the "play" in play date, and couldn't understand why the others weren't able to play with her. Kathy had Shelley pick up pizza from Market Bistro on the way, and we busted out the root beer. It was yummy!

Maggie and Benjamin pretty much ate, slept, cried, and ate again, but the other two babies were very entertaining. Ian hates tummy time and rolls over as soon as you put him down. His bodily emissions can clear a room (although I have to say I am lucky I didn't actually smell anything.) He was a little surprised when Kinsley tried to give him a kiss. Wow, kids are starting early! Kinsley is so cute, and very mobile. She scoots across the room on all fours, and then turns and looks back to see who is watching her. When I came in, she was up and creeping around the coffee table. Incredible! Her mommy says that she even pushes a walker around the house. That girl will be walking very soon! Speaking of Mommy, she finally said, "Mama" after having said, "Dada" first. Looks like Brad has some competition now. Never mind the fact that "dada" is easier to say!

We all decided that this is something we need to make a regular thing, if only so that the mommies don't go stir-crazy. It's nice to have another grown-up to talk to for a change!
